Comedy Show benefiting The Cinderella Cures Foundation

Cinderella Cares is pleased to bring you the first annual Comedy for Cure gala event bringing awareness in the fight against lung cancer.  Funds raised will go towards research, early diagnosis to reduce the mortality rate, while supporting families in the midst of a lung cancer diagnosis.  This night will feature some of the most talented musicians and standup comedians coming together to raise funds to support Holy Cross Hospital and Lung Cancer Alliance. Hosted by Comcast Sports very own Chick Hernandez.  Cinderella Cares was founded by the children of Cinderella Samuels Salmon to continue her legacy of giving and caring for families and those who are sick. She fought for three years and eight months in her battle with lung cancer. So we continue to fight on her behalf, making a difference in the community, both locally and globally; ACE, Awareness, Cure, Early Diagnosis!

Chick Hernandez - Master of Ceremony

In more than a decade as an anchor and reporter for Comcast SportsNet, Chick Hernandez has become one of the most recognizable and respected authorities in the region’s sports landscape.

As an anchor, Hernandez regularly provides comprehensive sports coverage on the network’s daily half-hour news program, SportsNet Central – a position he held for the show’s debut in April 2001. Hernandez also serves as the host of the Emmy Award-winning Redskins Kickoff and Redskins Postgame Live, which air throughout the Washington Redskins’ season.

Hernandez also contributes extensively to Comcast SportsNet’s news and entertainment shows as a reporter. In this role, he regularly covers the nation’s largest sporting events, including major golf events like the The Masters, and most popular teams, such as the Maryland Terrapins.

Tony Woods 

Tony Woods is a one-of-a-kind comedic legend that is always in control of his audience. A seasoned veteran in the comedy business, Tony is recognized not only by fans but by his peers as one of the best and most engaging comedians in the business.

Tony has a strong following in the US, UK, Australia and Europe. Born in North Carolina and raised in the D.C. area, Woods kicked off his career as an original member of Russell Simmons’ “Def Comedy Jam” on HBO and P. Diddy’s “Bad Boys of Comedy”, he is an all-round veteran and one-of-a-kind comic. Hisplayful and cool demeanor, combined with sharp and mischievous subject matter, create a show that is unmistakably entertaining at every level. A natural entertainer, Woods understands an audience and encourages them to become part of his strange world.

Ian Salmon

Salmon is noted for his ability to keep his jokes fresh and unique, he weaves together experiences of travel, divorce and fatherhood, creating an enthralling web of comedy that will leave people in side-splitting laughter. With everything he’s done, the man has endless material to use for the reward of a good laugh. Ian has appeared on such TV shows as CSI NY, The Mentalist, Baggage and  in movies like Minority Report, Dark Eyes and has featured role in the movie Minkow staring Janes Caan, Ving Rhames and Mark Hamill he has aslo appeared on comedy shows such as Comedy Central and Showtime at The Apollo.

Flip Shultz

Flip has performed with over five Improv troupes, establishing his quick wit and rapport with the audience. After leaving as one of the hottest and most requested comics in South Florida, Flip moved cross country to LA. His high energy and very physical show has made him a favorite on the LA comedy scene and a regular performer at many of the famous comedy clubs Hollywood. Flip has appeared on Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central, Comics Unleashed and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Sarah Newell

Sarah Newell is a former bikini and fashion model turned comedian and actress.  Sarah has be seen on numerous TV shows, she played Sarah Barton on CSI Miami and has also been seen in King of Queens and Law Order,  she can also be seen in the Justin Timberlake movie Friends with Benefits.

Formed as a backup band for Bo Diddley, the Kelly Bell Band is now in its sixteenth year of playing, recording, and entertaining fans. The KBB released their debut album, Phat Blues Music in 1998. It remains one of the best selling CDs in Mid-Atlantic region history. The band followed with the equally successful studio albums Ain’t Like it Used to Be in 2001 and Chasing the Sun in 2002. In March 2004, the KBB released their first live album “Live From the Recher Theatre…Finally” to much industry acclaim.
