Landover Church continues tradition of hosting bonanza of New Year’s Eve events
Joel R. Peebles Pastor of City of Praise Church in Landover, MD announced that the church will host its annual New Years Eve Concert. This year’s concert will feature Stellar and Grammy Award Winner Donald Lawrence. The New Years Eve event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 9pm with a movie on December 31st and will continue into the New Year on January 1, 2012. The concert will take place at City of Praise Church on Bishop Peebles Drive next to FedEx Field.
“Donald is an outstanding artist. He has been a blessing and benefit to the Body of Christ and The City of Praise for many years," said Pastor Peebles. “We are excited to have an artist of his stature take time to join us and bring in the New Year with praises for the Lord.”
Pastor Peebles began the tradition of having a packed-house Christian concert two decades ago when his father and mother, the late Bishop James Peebles and Apostle Betty Peebles, were leaders of the church. In the years since the tradition began, great recording artists such as Vickie Winans, Beverly Crawford, Tye Tribbett and Shirley Caesar have performed at the New Year’s Eve Concerts.
