Paul Wharton, most recently featured on “The Real Housewives of D.C.,” plans to leave his mark on the world. Is TV talk show host in his future? He is the new fashion guru and the go-to person in the fashion world. Read his interview in Council

When we first met Wharton, it was backstage at a fashion show in D.C. Throughout the show, he provided insightful information and descriptions of everything that came down the runway. We’ve seen him host a number of fashion shows since, and he doesn’t disappoint.

As Washington’s city council considered a bill granting same-sex couples the right to marry, Wharton was able to use “The Real Housewives of D.C.” as an outlet to share his position on the issue. While this is a divisive issue, Wharton wasn’t afraid to speak up.

In this issue, Council Magazine introduces two new sections: Designer Looks and Out & About.

In Designer Looks, we are focusing on the creators of Tiffany & Co.’s new leather collection. This handbag and small accessories collection is full of sumptuous materials and vibrant colors. Richard Lambertson and John Truex are the collection’s design directors. We interviewed them at the Tiffany store in Vienna, Va., where we talked about their inspiration and the iconic Tiffany Blue’s place in the collection. Their creative vision is evident in each item in the collection.

In Out & About, Council features images and stories from around the country. In the section’s debut, we feature Jessica Sutta, a former Pussycat Doll, and Phoebe Price, a model and accessories designer.

Council’s Go-Getta for the Winter issue is Raquel Riley Thomas, Mrs. Maryland America. As an Army veteran, she knows firsthand the difficulties of transitioning to the civilian world. She is using her reign to address the issues of veterans’ employment by raising awareness of the skills a veteran can bring to the workplace.

Riley Thomas’ life of service did not end when she left the military. As she helps veterans, she is also carrying on the tradition of service by sharing her knowledge with younger generations through her “Boots2Bikins” blog.

Council Magazine, a quarterly fashion magazine, brings award-winning coverage of Washington, D.C., area personalities, fashion and style. For more information or to purchase copies, visit www.councilmag.com.
