College Athlete Debuts In New Arena - Recording Industry
(Press
Release) What’s
a college jock with literary talent and an economics degree
supposed to do in this economy? Become a recording artist/songwriter,
of course.
That’s what Kwame Darko, a member of the nationally-acclaimed
University of Maryland soccer team, is pondering after graduating
this past December. The 22-year-old releases his mixtape on Jan.
30 as a player in a new arena and is a featured guest at Ozio
Restaurant & Lounge, a popular club in the nation’s
capital. The release party is hosted by KING Royal Event Group,
a lifestyle and entertainment group that caters to young professionals.
The mixtape,
titled “Tangerine Tinted Sunglasses”,
features 18 tracks including Darko’s original compositions
as well as freestyles over popular industry instrumentals. The
driving creative forces behind Darko’s release stem from
his diverse background and experiences while growing up in suburban
Washington, D.C. The songs range from smooth, feel-good sounds
to get-up-and-dance club anthems.
A uniquely
talented songwriter and recording artist, Darko channels the
same energy with his music that he used to help win several
soccer titles at both youth and collegiate levels. So far,
he has spurned a potentially lucrative career playing soccer
to further explore opportunities presented to him in the recording
and entertainment industry. Several standouts in the sports
and entertainment world are expected to attend Darko’s release
party. Get on the guest list by sending an e-mail to reservations@royaleventgroup.com.
Kwame Darko’s “Tangerine Tinted Sunglasses” debut
mixtape will be available to download from various uploading/file-sharing
sites starting Jan. 30 at Kwame Darko Music on Facebook and www.myspace.com/kodmdmusic
